[GUIDE] How to do a clean install of Windows 10 Redstone 1 (using ISO image) on MeeGoPad.

Preparation (what you need):

  1. USB Pendrive 8GB or external USB DVD drive.
    Please note that you can NOT use a MicroSD/SD card with USB adapter - it won't work!
  2. External USB WiFi card.
  3. Download free ProduKey v1.83 on newer: here
  4. Download free Microsoft Windows ISO Download Tool 3.15 or newer: here
  5. Download free Rufus 2.10 or newer: here
  6. Download free Driver Booster 3.5 or newer: here

Step-by-step Guide:

PLEASE NOTE - ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED FROM YOUR MEEGOPAD!

  1. Move all your files/documents from MeeGoPad to external disk, pendrive or SD card.
  2. Open ProduKey v1.85 and save/print your Windows 10 License Key!

  3. Use Microsoft Windows ISO Download Tool 3.15 to download Windows 10 Redstone 1 ISO file.

  4. Use Microsoft Windows ISO Download Tool 3.15 to download Windows 10 Redstone 1 ISO image.
  5. Create a Windows 10 USB installation media with UEFI support by using Rufus 2.10 or later (steps 5-8)

  6. Once you have Rufus open, the first thing you have to do is to choose from Device the USB you want to use to copy the Windows 10 installation files.

  7. Then select GPT partition scheme for UEFI, leave the "File system" and "Cluster size" on the default settings, and remember to enter a label for the drive.
  8. Make sure that Create a bootable disk using is checked and ISO Image is selected from the drop-down menu.
  9. Next click the drive icon and open the Windows 10 ISO file you want to write to the USB drive, and click Start to finish.
  10. Copy Driver Booster 3.5 installer to your Windows 10 Instalation USB drive.
  11. Enter the BIOS (F7 key) and boot from Windows 10 UEFI Pendrive.
  12. Use your Windows 10 License Key from step 2 - the edition of Windows 10 has to match the edition of Windows that the product key is for.
  13. Remove all partitions and do a clean install of Windows 10.
  14. Your new Windows 10 needs drivers, plug your external USB WiFi card to connect to the Internet (build-in WiFi card won't work at this point).
  15. Install Driver Booster 3.5, use it to download and install all drivers for your MeeGoPad.
    Don't use Driver Booster to install WiFi Network Adapter for MeeGoPad T07 - uncheck it and install this driver!

  16. Done, enjoy your Windows 10 Redstone 1 (Anniversary Update) with the latest drivers installed.

Known issues:

My WiFi keeps disconnecting or doesn't work.

  1. If you have a problem with your wifi card, go to: Device Manager -> Network adapters
  2. "Update" the driver for Realtek RTL8723BS Wireless LAN 802.11n SDIO Network Adapter
  3. Manually downgrade the driver to version 3008.18.831.2015 (dated 08.10.2015) - driver is included with the operating system, but a newer version 3008.30.xxx.2016 might be installed on your system.
  4. Download the driver for Windows 8.1 and 10: RTLWlanS_WindowsDriver_3008.25.1216.2015.zip

MeeGoPad T07 4GB - is it a fake product? (also 4K display bug)

@FirstEver wrote:

My MeeGoPad's T07 4GB (both from eBay) uses different eMMC cards (115MB/s and 41MB/s seq. read speed)?

Is it a fake product?

Also, I found 4K display bug on MegeGoPad T07 4GB - device uses wrong frequency (65Hz??? instead of 30Hz) for 4K HDMI.
I am getting visual artifacts on the bottom of the screen during post, in BIOS and Windows desktop on the both devices. I solved it by installing the driver for the graphics card and unlocked 23/24/25/29/30Hz display refresh rate, before it was locked at 65Hz, but still getting artifacts on post or BIOS screen. It worked fine on the previous version of the BIOS (no artifacts)!

To MeeGoPad Team - please fix it!

I think... The Benchmark about "computer" is very good!
and CPU is acceptable.
Overall, the A02 has a very good performance! :v:
- No lag
- no reboots by itself
- No froze (sometimes on boot system) but we solved this issue (very easy!)
:point_right: http://forum.x86pad.com/t/meegopad-a02-frozen-please-help/934

  • I found 1 BUG: some times when I turn on, the wifi is OFF, and I need restart the A02 for the wifi working again.

Problems Linux on T07 (Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora)

$

@jameeyo wrote:

I tried to install a few linux distro's on the T07 (ubuntu, fedora and debian), by creating a live usb stick. However,

  • Ubuntu: the live system (so the try-out system) works well (stable), but if I install ubuntu onto the T07 for permanent usage, the resulting system completely freezes at a random moments after boot. Sometimes during boot, sometimes after. I get errors, probably, involving the Networkmanager.
  • Debian: cannot get it to boot. I tried it both by directly writing the debian image to the USB (with dd), and with unetbootin (first formatting the usb drive to FAT32). In the first case it is not even
    recognised as a bootable usb stick, in the second case it is recognised. However, even if I select it as the device to boot from, it simply skips it, and continues with the next device in the boot list. Both sticks, however, boot just fine on one of my other computers (a Lenovo), so there is nothing wrong with the usb stick.
  • Fedora: direct writing of iso with dd --> not recognised as bootable device. Using unetbootin: system starts booting, but installation process fails with errors. (both sticks, again, work just fine on my Lenovo).

I was surprised that quite some people managed to get one of these systems running on a T07 in a stable way. My summary is that only Ubuntu live is stable, all other options either do not boot, do not install, or crash hopelessly. What did you do? Do I have a newer (or older BIOS) - or even a defective BIOS, or did the meegopad team change some of the hardware?

The problem with auto-update BIOS

$

@vicbar wrote:

I have a device Meegopad T02. Recently it started after the auto-update BIOS, after which the device stopped working.

I had to make a programmer BIOS firmware to the original version. The device after power began to work, but again began auto-update, after which the device stopped working again.

Once again, I flashed the BIOS on the programmer with the original version. This time, I turned off the internet, went into bios device to disable the settings for automatic updates of the BIOS options, but to my great regret, I found that to disable the auto-update option is not available with the result that it is impossible to disable the auto-update.

I ask you to help solve the problem:

  1. The need to make available to disable auto-update BIOS
  2. The need to fix the BIOS version that is installed through auto-update to the device remains operational.

Hi,

Some months ago i bought a T05 wich i'm quite happy with. Anyhow test of eMMC speed show it is very slow, much slower than my T01.

On the device manager the disk unit is named Generic N-Card while in the T01 it is Thosiba 032ge4. Could it be that the issue of slow performance s because of windows 10 not detecting the right eMMC?.

Thanks.

Bios versions, turbo and DPTF T02

@jpearn wrote:

I am running Windows 10 on a T02 and noticed that there is always one DPTF driver with an explanation mark next to on certain BIOSes, this causes the CPU not to scale properly. If I reinstall Windows 10 with the image from here, it includes an old BIOS from March 15 which solves the DPTF problem and the CPU scales OK.
Is this correct ? Also there is a turbo BIOS created on 4PDA which uses a signed component from another Meegopad BIOS mixed with the T02 files which enables full turbo, yet no-one has really mentioned it here. I understand that will make it a bit hotter ! Yes I have read the Turbo post on the forum !
Is there a list somewhere of the advantages / problems with each of the BIOSes, stable (setable), old, new etc, or is it a try it and see ? !

Cheers, Jason.
